Karen J. Spinelli, CPA

Managing Partner

Karen J. Spinelli is president, owner and managing partner of Spinelli CPA, PC, a certified woman owned business in Massachusetts.  With over 25 years of hands-on accounting, tax and business consulting experience, Karen has focused her career on working with the owners of small- and mid-sized, closely held and family owned businesses, supporting the mission of non-profit organizations, and providing financial guidance for individuals and families.  Karen has a strong base of practical experience that allows her to see beyond the everyday necessities of businesses and individuals to explore the potential held by each of her clients, helping them to reach their goals.  Educating her clients and working with them to reach their goals is very important to Karen

Karen completed and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting at Fitchburg State in 1992.  She grew up in Fitchburg and currently lives in Leominster with her husband Tom.  

Karen stays active in her community, supporting small businesses and not for profit Organizations. Karen is currently the secretary for the Fitchburg Art Museum, a trustee for Fitchburg State University, a committee member of Boy Scout Troop 12 Leominster and the treasurer for the Center for Italian Culture.  Karen has previously been a trustee for Fitchburg State University Foundation.

Diane M. Peralta, CPA

Director of Audit

Diane M. Peralta, CPA is the director of audit with over 28 years of experience and is a licensed CPA in Massachusetts. Diane recently joined Spinelli CPA, PC after the elimination of the audit practice at Mercadante & Mercadante, P.C. in 2020. Diane was a partner for twenty years at Mercadante & Mercadante, P.C., overseeing credit union audit engagements, as well as for-profit and not-for-profit audits and directing review and compilation engagements. Diane continues to serve the credit union audit clients after the transition from her previous firm. In addition to the accounting and auditing services provided to clients, Diane has experience and works with income tax preparation for not-for-profit, corporate and individual clients.

Diane is a graduate of Bentley College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Since 2001, Diane has served as a director for the Massachusetts Credit Union Share Insurance Corporation, where she currently serves as Chairman of the Audit Committee and is a member of the Monitoring Committee.

Eva Akese, CPA

Audit Manager

Eva graduated from Worcester State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration from Assumption College.  She is licensed with the State of Massachusetts as a Certified Public Accountant.  Eva is currently an Audit Manager with fifteen years of audit and accounting experience in both small local and national accounting firms and received the distinguished Excellence and Service Quality Award for Contributions to the Success of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston (FRBB) Financial Reporting Unit. Eva has served as the Director of Finance at Upper Room Family International Church for 10 years. Eva currently serves as a director at Abby’s House.

Suzanne Longone

Firm Administator

Suzanne graduated from Becker College and brings over twenty years’ experience as the Firm Administrator.  Suzanne has worked for small regional firms as well as national accounting firms with over ten years’ experience in firm management.  Suzanne was given an award from XCM Solutions for Most Successful First Year Launch.  She has served on the client advisory boards of CCH Document and XCM Solutions.  A believer in giving back to the community, Suzanne has volunteered for Community Harvest Project, For One Child, Cradles to Crayons, Food Share food distribution program and served as the Director of Women’s Ministries for over 15 years at Charlton Baptist Church.

Megan Riendeau, EA

Senior Accountant

Megan graduated from Fitchburg State University and has earned the designation of Enrolled Agent with the IRS.  Megan brings fourteen years of tax, accounting and auditing experience to the Spinelli team and has been the In Charge Accountant for audits, compilations and reviews of not-for-profits, governmental clients, and small businesses.  Megan has also served as the Board Treasurer of Arc of Opportunity in North Central Massachusetts for over six years.

Tyrenna Gaines

Staff accountant

Tyrenna graduated from Worcester State University and is currently pursuing her MBA at Babson College. Tyrenna brings seven years of experience in the accounting-related field. When not working you can find Tyrenna reading, writing literature, and learning to speak Swahili.

Samuel Keith

Staff Accountant

Sam recently received his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration in accounting from the University of Cincinnati’s Lindner College of Business. While completing his degree, Sam prepared tax returns for small business owners on the Ohio-Kentucky boarder and specialized in assisting clients who were subject to taxation by multiple interstate localities. He graduated cum laude and performed at the top of his class in audit risk assessment, internal control evaluation, and employee fraud detection.
